Ongoing stress, poor sleep and constant tiredness affect your health, work and relationships. Our doctors look at your routine and what is weighing on you, then plan calming care to help you rest and recover.

  • Registered Ayurvedic doctors
  • A full assessment before any treatment
  • At our Anuradhapura clinic or online
  • Consultations in Sinhala and English

Problems we commonly see

  • Ongoing stress and mild anxiety
  • Difficulty falling or staying asleep
  • Constant physical and mental tiredness

Not sure if yours fits? Ask us. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can help.

How we work: cause → signs → remedy

  1. Find the cause. What is keeping your mind busy: workload, worries, sleep habits, screen time or diet.
  2. Read your signs. Your sleep, energy, mood and daily routine.
  3. Plan the remedy. Treatment chosen for you, not a standard package.

What treatment may include

Treatment depends on your condition. Your doctor decides on it after discussing it with you. It may include:

  • Herbal medicines to take at home
  • Calming head therapies, for example Shirodhara (gentle warm oil stream on the forehead), Ksheeradhara (warm medicated milk stream) and Shiro Abhyanga (head massage)
  • Sleep and daily-routine guidance (Dinacharya) you can follow at home

What to expect

  • First visit: 45–60 minutes with the doctor. Bring your list of medicines and any reports.
  • Your plan: explained clearly, so you know what each step is for.
  • Therapy courses, where needed, are planned around your condition, so their length differs from person to person.
  • Follow-up visits to check progress and adjust your plan.

Go to a hospital first if…

  • Thoughts of harming yourself, or feeling unable to keep yourself safe. Go to your nearest hospital straight away, or call the 1926 National Mental Health Helpline.
  • Chest pain, or a racing heart with breathlessness
  • Seeing or hearing things others don’t, or sudden confusion

Ayurvedic care is not a substitute for emergency care. If you have any of these, please get medical help the same day.

Common questions

Should I stop the medicines my other doctor prescribed?
No. Please don’t stop or change any prescribed medicine without proper medical advice.

Is my consultation private?
Yes. Everything you share with the doctor stays confidential.

Can I consult online?
Yes, for the assessment and a herbal and routine plan. Shirodhara and other therapies need a visit to our Anuradhapura clinic.

Your doctors

Dr. Umesh Karunathilake and Dr. Hashani Rathnayake both see patients for these conditions. Both are BAMS (University of Colombo) and registered with the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Medical Council. Meet our doctors.

Safety note. This article is general information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Please see a registered doctor before starting any treatment, and keep taking medicines your doctors have prescribed. If you have any urgent warning signs, seek medical care the same day.
