How we work: cause → signs → remedy
- Find the cause. What is straining your feet: long hours of standing, footwear, body weight, circulation, or another health condition.
- Read your signs. Where it hurts, when it is worst (often the first steps in the morning), swelling, skin changes, and any reports you bring.
- Plan the remedy. Treatment chosen for you, not a standard package.
What treatment may include
Treatment depends on your condition. Your doctor decides on it after discussing it with you. It may include:
- Herbal medicines to take at home
- Local therapies, for example Padabhyanga (warm oil foot massage), Pattu (warm herbal paste) and Valuka Sweda (heated sand and salt bundles)
- Footwear, standing and daily-routine advice
What to expect
- First visit: 45–60 minutes with the doctor. Bring any reports and your list of medicines.
- Your plan: explained clearly, so you know what each step is for.
- Therapy courses, where needed, are planned around your condition, so their length differs from person to person.
- Follow-up visits to check progress and adjust your plan.
Go to a hospital first if…
- A wound or ulcer on the foot that isn’t healing, especially if you have diabetes
- Sudden pain and swelling in one calf
- A foot that turns pale, blue or cold
- A hot, red, swollen foot with fever
Ayurvedic care is not a substitute for emergency care. If you have any of these, please get medical help the same day.
Common questions
Should I stop the medicines my other doctor prescribed?
No. Please don’t stop or change any prescribed medicine without proper medical advice.
I have diabetes. Is foot care different for me?
Yes. Tell the doctor about your diabetes. Any wound or numbness in the feet needs extra care and may need a hospital check.
Can I consult online?
Yes, for the assessment and a herbal and routine plan. Therapies such as Padabhyanga need a visit to our Anuradhapura clinic.
